The Pacific Crest Trail

The pacific crest trail was a pathway and some people were disturbed by its nature. In recent articles the pct communicator writers talked about the current association between the pct and wilderness. Only a few people were aware of the close association of the movement to establish which became the national scenic trails. The thinkers started talking and writing about the value of the long distance trail through the wilderness. Bob Marshall and Clarke exchanged letters from 1937-1939 about a range of issues regarding to the wild lands. The next seven years Clarke and oct continued to advocate by pushing aside the wild. Annual reportes and call to action from the pct conference continued to focus on the need for more areas in the wild.

                    Two facts
Long distance trails in natural setting begun with the environmental movement of the 1960s and set into the national consciousness with the passage of 1964 Wilderness Act

A group of revolutionary thinkers planted the seeds of tgese big ideas in the 1920s

                      Three interesting facts
-In 1935 eight leaders came together to form the wilderness society.
-Between 1939 and 1964 before the passage of the Wilderness Act,  Forest service designation of wilderness grew a scant two percent from 14.2 million to 14.6 million acres.
-The discussion renewed the conservation community regarding the need for legislation to designate wilderness
                      Question
Why did many people think the notion of setting aside the land in its natural condition is best to let the pathway go?
