The Color Purple

The Color Purple is a famous novel by Alice Walker. The movie and the novel have a lot in common. The film and the novel give a true depiction of the position of African American women. At the same time the movie and the book have many significant differences. The novel explores how Celie has to go through humiliations and the abuse as a child growing up not knowing how men should treat her and having the ability to have a high self esteem.
The movie leaves out more important details and how Celie really felt. It didn't show her growth and how the family came together as one. Also, when Nettie left the movie did not give detail from detail on where Nettie really went and how she got Celie children. The movie was more of getting to the point while the novel was based on detail from detail.
Reading the novel was such an beautiful thing to read despite of the hopeless and loneliness. The novel can help anyone that is going through the same thing as Celie, She manage not to give up even when she wanted to. Being in the predicament that she was in made her a stronger person with the help of her role model Shug Avery, which is who Celie met and became close friends with, during there friendship Celie found hope and love.
